Frequently asked questions & answers

+ What are the box office opening times?

We are based on school premises, so our Box Office isn't usually open to in-person callers. We are not staffed full time (we only have one part-time member of staff!), but if you ring us, there's usually someone available most weekday mornings, between 9am and 1pm. You can leave a message on our voicemail and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. It is usually better to e-mail the Box Office for a more immediate response.

The Box Office is open to walk in customers usually one hour before curtain up until 20mins after curtain on evenings when we have a performance.

+ Can I hire the theatre?

We are part of a working school and our theatre and Front of House areas are used daily as teaching and rehearsal spaces, along with our evening and weekend professional programme, which makes hiring the theatre often very difficult. However, if you are interested in hiring, please contact us and we will see if we are able to accommodate your request.

+ Do I print my tickets or can I show them on my phone?

Either! You can either print out the confirmation e-mail you will get when booking, or show it on your phone on arrival. Alternatively, we can print off physical tickets for you on arrival if you prefer. We do not send out tickets by post.

+ Can I reserve seats / tickets?

All tickets must be pre-booked online or over the phone. If you would like to reserve one of our step-free access seats (suitable for wheelchair users or those not able to use steps), please contact the Box Office as these seats are not able to be booked online. For unreserved seating events, please book as normal but request an accessible seat in the Comments section at the Checkout page.

+ What about returns / exchanges / refunds?

If, for whatever reason, we need to cancel or postpone a show, your cost of your tickets (not including any booking fees) will be transferred or refunded. In line with most other theatres, we can only refund tickets in other circumstances (such as illness, a positive COVID test etc) if we have a waiting list and we are able to resell them to another customer. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

+ Who qualifies for concession tickets?

Concessionary tickets are available to students (NUS or similar ID required), under 18s, unemployed, disabled, senior citizens (over 60) and for some selected shows, employees of Bedford School. For children's shows, very young children/babies who sit on their grown-up's lap do not require their own seat/ticket.

+ What do I do about group bookings?

We normally limit online bookings to eight tickets. If you would like to book more, or have a larger group, please contact us by e-mail and we will get back to you to arrange your booking.

+ What if I arrive late for a show?

If you arrive late to a performance you may not be able to enter the auditorium until the interval or a convenient break in the performance.

+ Can I take photos / videos when watching a show?

The unauthorised use of cameras/video photography or any other sort of recording equipment is strictly forbidden unless told otherwise.

+ How are the disabled access facilities at The Quarry?

The Quarry Theatre aims to make all its facilities accessible to all members of the community. Both the main auditorium and studio theatre have step-free/wheelchair access and we have an accessible toilet with baby-changing facilities in the bar. The main auditorium is also installed with an induction loop. The theatre forecourt has provision for two 'Blue Badge' parking spaces but we advise you call to book a space. Four seats on the front row of the stalls are reserved for those not able to use steps. These are not put on sale online, so please call if you would like to book these on (01234) 362337 or by e-mail to boxoffice@quarrytheatre.org.uk .

+ Can I park at the theatre?

We have space for two 'Blue Badge' vehicles on the theatre forecourt. Please let us know if you would like to reserve a space in advance, as often the forecourt area is used by visiting company vehicles. We recommend using the St Peter's Street Car Park. This is only 2 - 3 mins walk from the venue and free after 6pm weekdays and Sundays. On Saturdays the council are currently offering up to 2 hours free parking in their car parks (updated 05/12/23).

+ What are the Terms and Conditions when buying a ticket?
